There are millions of species of trees and plants on earth. But when the question is whether the tree came first on earth or the seed, most people are unable to answer this question. Do you know whether the orange came first or its seed. Today we will tell you how the first tree came on earth.
Trees and Plants
Let us tell you that trees and plants play a very big role in the development of life on earth. Actually the word seed is used for trees and plants only, but in literature the word seed has been used for the point of origin. But this question always comes in people’s mind that where did the first seed of plants come from on earth. Now think about it, a tree cannot come without a seed and a seed cannot come without a tree.
This is also called the origin or development of life. In this long process, changes occur in organisms over time, which organisms bring to adapt properly to the changing environment. Similarly, the development of seeds themselves also has its own story. Trees and plants started spreading themselves through seeds between 38.5 and 36.5 crore years ago. That is, trees and plants existed even before seeds came into existence. Before the advent of seeds, plants used spores, which are called spores. Even today, plants like algae, moss, and ferns still have spores. These fine brown particles are found under fern leaves. But they are different from seeds in some ways. Spores are made of only one cell, whereas seeds have many cells and different cells also have different roles.
While spores are produced from only one plant, two plants contribute to the formation of seeds. That is, once germinated, the seed can flourish like its parents. But before that, the spores have to go through a long process. When they are away from the tree, they have to develop into a green cellular plate, which is called a gametophyte. To grow as a plant, two gametophytes have to meet.
Which is the first seed?
According to scientists, it is actually an extinct fern named Elxiniya Polymorpha, which plants first used as a seed. This plant has a cup-like part, which is called cupules. It used to protect the seed while it was developing. These cupules grow along with the branches of the plant. Now the seeds are either inside the fruit or the hard cone of the pine tree. Actually, the seeds were developed so that they could help the plants grow better. They also have a hard cover, due to which the seeds can remain safe for a long time. At the same time, they can also withstand adverse weather conditions.
